I want to turn my 180 gallon into a fish only marine tank, i want exclusively triggers.
ive been reading up on fish only tanks and some local "experts" have told me that i really dont need 180 lbs of live rock its more about surface volume.
my tank has 2 fx5' cannisters for filtration.
id like to do fiji branch live rock as a center piece / exploration area and devote most of tank to the triggers.
is there any one who can shed some light on this predicament as 180 lbs of live rock is not in the budget and frankly the stores in calgary that sell beach rubble for 8-10$ a lb are insane.

just a thought...couldn't you do a refugium type sump to eliminate the need for that much LR?

Buy 75 or 80 % base rock and then buy 20% LR to seed the rest.
Base rock is about 2.50 a pd..Just have to wait longer before stocking.
